About Us

Whitehill Nursery School is situated on the premises of Whitehill Infant School in Crowborough, a school built in 1997 with a purpose built nursery provision.

The Nursery was created as a pilot partnership between a nursery school in the private sector and the East Sussex Education Authority. This unique partnership has proven to be very successful and has been modelled elsewhere in East Sussex.

Although run as an independent organisation by its founder Mrs Karen Boggis, Whitehill Nursery School has very close links and works within the aims and objectives of Whitehill Infant School. Although a majority of the children progress into the reception classes of Whitehill Infant School, many also go on to attend other local schools within the area.

Whitehill Nursery School was opened in September 1999 offering childcare five mornings a week, with 11 children per morning. It has since grown and today offers a variety of term time childcare from 09:00am until 3:00pm, with a register of 120 children per week.

The Nursery employs 14 members of staff, 12 of whom are qualified to level 3 NVQ or equivalent in childcare and education. Staff training is of high importance and all staff regularly attend courses to update their knowledge and good practices.

The Nursery is registered with the Office for Standards in Education ("OFSTED") for 25 children per session between the ages of 2 to 5 years inclusive on the Nursery premises and 24 children per session between the ages of 3 to 5 years inclusive in an additional classroom area situated within Whitehill Infant School.

Whitehill Nursery School was awarded the prestigious Pre School Learning Alliance Accreditation Quality Assurance Award in January 2003.

The Nursery also has a very active Parents Teachers Association ("PTA") who organise many events for the benefit of the children.

We have two new websites for our Children's Holiday Club and After School Club.
